My goal is to become a better writer ,after finishing this English 101
class this semester. I want to write better than I ever had
before. What I mean by this is I want to improve my sentence
structures, decrease my grammar mistakes, improve the organization of
my ideas, I want to write better than my mother and I want to write a
essay without help from anyone. I believe this can be done by the end of
this semester with a lot of hard work. I need my ability to write to
improve
because it holds me back in life. Without good penmanship your
opportunity of job will decrease substantially. The instant benefits I
would receive for becoming a better writer are excelling in school ,
improve my methods of expressing myself and improve my communicating
skills.
Improving my writing skills is important to me because writing have been my weakest ability my whole life. When I was in elementary school I was the worst writer in most of my classes.I would try my best to avoid writing by acting out in class. I would be a class clown hiding the problem which was I couldn't write. I was not a bad student, I just wasn't disciplined enough to keep trying instead of giving up. My mother tried to get me extra help like a tutor and putting me in the learning center called Scores. It helped me improve a little but not as much as I would have liked so I gave up on myself. In math I was a 90 student most my life. Math was my favorite subject because I was confident and good at it. Because I was so bad at writing, it became more of a fear to me. As I got to junior high school nothing changed for me. I still was barely passing my writing classes but in math and other subjects I was doing good. My confidence in writing was real low. Being a competitive type of child, I was not happy that the other students in class was better than me when I was better in every other subject. My family is very competitive with each other. I was compared to my cousin in school every year. He had better grades than me mostly every year. I was good in math and he was good at English/writing.
